TET Eligibility

TET Eligibility: Educational Qualification 

There are two papers in the TET exam:

  • Paper I (for teaching classes 1 to 5)
  • Paper-II (for teaching classes 6 to 12)

Paper I

  • Higher Secondary (class 12) or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Attending or qualified for the last year of a 2-year Elementary Education Diploma course.

OR

  • Higher Secondary (class 12) or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Attending or qualified the last year of a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education degree course (B.El.Ed.)

OR

  • Must have graduated and completed or sat for the last year of the 2-year elementary teaching diploma.

Paper II

  • Must have graduated and completed or sat for the last year of the 2-year elementary teaching diploma.

OR

  • Must graduate with an overall average of at least 50% and be enrolled in or have completed the first year of B.Ed.

OR

  • Higher Secondary(class 12) or equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks and enrolled in or have appeared in the first year of B.EI.Ed.

OR

  • Applicants who have completed or are currently enrolled in the last year of a four-year integrated program/course such as B.ED, B.Sc, BA, B.Ed, or any other similar program/course are also welcome to apply.

TET Eligibility: Nationality

Applicant must be: 

  • An Indian citizen
  • Subjects of Bhutan 
  • Subjects of Nepal
  • A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, intends to stay continuously.
  • A person of Indian descent who moved to India permanently from 
  • Pakistan
  • Burma
  • Sri Lanka
  • Kenya
  • Uganda
  • The United Republic of Tanzania 
  • Zambia
  • Malawi
  • Zaire
  • Ethiopia
  • Vietnam

TET Eligibility: Age

 According to numerous announcements, a candidate for TET must be at least 18 years old. TET does not usually have an upper age limit. However, specific states may impose an upper age restriction.

TET Eligibility: Number of Attempts

If the applicant fits the other qualifications, there is usually no limit on the number of tries. One can appear as many times as they like.
