4 Best Green Spaces to Enjoy in Toronto

 

In the uncertain times we are living in, many Torontonians are looking for a reprieve from stay-at-home orders in the form of physical activity and fresh air.  Although many of the city’s park amenities are shut down, there is still ample green space to visit across the GTA.  So while you take care and practice social distancing, here are 4 parks worth checking out during the current crisis.

High Park

A municipal park in Toronto, High Park is a mixed recreational and natural park located in close proximity of 1 Bloor West downtown.  During normal times, the park boasts sporting, cultural and educational facilities, as well as playgrounds and a zoo. One-third of the park remains in a natural state, with a rare oak savanna ecology.  One of the best green spaces in Toronto, the park is also home to natural eco focused gardens and a range of beautiful animals.

Riverdale West Park

Riverdale Park West is another large and beautiful park in downtown Toronto. Residents are lucky to have such a huge green space nearby, as this park has ample green lawns and plenty of trees. It is very enjoyable to take a walk along the multiple paths within this park, some of which lead to Riverdale East Park, its continuation to the east.

Centennial Park

Centennial Park is Toronto’s second-largest park, located in the city’s west end with many activities that run throughout the year under normal circumstances.  In the winter, parents can take their kids skiing on a bunny hill with a lift.  In warmer weather, the park boasts plenty of green space for bbqing or to simply take a walk around. There is also the Etobicoke Oympium,  a multi-use facility that focuses on meeting the recreation needs of the community and developing amateur competitive sports. nearby.

Trinity Bellwoods Park

Trinity Bellwoods Park is a public park located in the west end of Toronto bordered by Queen Street West on the south and Dundas Street on the north and is one of the city’s largest downtown public greenspaces. There are lots of benches surrounded by trees to relax by, and space to lay out your blanket and take in the sun or have a spring picnic.  Trinity Bellwoods is also a great place to ride your bike for some much needed exercise.
